AI receptionist for contractors

Someone answers, even when everyone is on a job.

It answers on the number you already have, in your business's own words. It knows your services, your service area and your hours, takes the caller's details, books or routes them, and emails you a summary before you are off the ladder. From $2,500 setup plus $299/mo. Mine answers (218) 818-1023. Call it.

Text me anytime: (218) 818-1023. Skip the email if you like. I read and answer every text myself.

The demo is a phone call

Do not take my word for it. Ring mine.

The AI receptionist on (218) 818-1023 is the one I run for my own business, on my own number, the same way yours would work. Call it, ask it something awkward, and see whether it holds up. That is a better demo than anything I could write on this page.

How it works

Your number, your words, your rules

You keep your number

Nothing is ported and nothing is signed over. You turn on call forwarding, which is a short code you dial once. Turn it off and calls come straight back to your phone.

It answers how you choose

Every call, or only the ones you do not pick up within a few rings. Most contractors start with the second and move to the first once they trust it.

It knows your business

Your trades, your service area, your hours, your rough pricing rules and what counts as an emergency. Given to it as facts, not left to its imagination.

It qualifies and routes

Name, address, what the job is, how urgent. Emergencies handled differently from quote requests, and anything it cannot handle goes to you or to voicemail.

It books or promises a callback

A slot on your calendar, or a stated window for you to ring back, so the caller hangs up knowing what happens next.

You get a summary immediately

An email or text the moment the call ends: who called, what they want, what was said, what was promised. Read it between jobs in about ten seconds.

The honest part

What it will not do, on purpose

It does not pretend to be a person. If a caller asks, it says what it is. Getting caught pretending costs more trust than the automation ever saved, and people are getting good at spotting it.

It does not quote a price on a job it has not seen. It can give your published rates and call-out fees if you have them. It will not price a roof over the phone, because a number said out loud becomes a promise.

It does not commit you to a date you have not agreed. It books inside the slots you define, and everything else is a callback window.

It does not replace your office person. If you have one, this covers the calls they cannot get to: evenings, weekends, and the four that come in while they are on another line. If you do not have one, this is the version you can afford.

What it costs

One fixed price, agreed in writing first

AI receptionist
from $2,500 setup

Then $299 a month for me keeping it answering, tuned and monitored. The phone line and the AI's usage are billed at cost on top.

  • Set up on your existing number, nothing ported, texts still land on your phone
  • Trained on your services, area, hours and rules, not on guesses
  • Emergency triage, so a no-heat call at 11pm is not treated like a quote request
  • Booking or callback windows, inside limits you set
  • A summary of every call emailed or texted to you the moment it ends
  • Tested against the awkward calls, including the ones designed to trip it up
  • An off switch you control: forwarding off, and it is gone

Before you pay for anything

The audit is free and it comes first.

Twenty to thirty minutes on how your week actually runs. You leave knowing whether this is the right first build for your business, what it would cost, and what the monthly running cost really is.

If your volume will not pay the build back, I will say so and point you at something cheaper. That has happened and it will happen again.

Not ready for this? Missed call text back is from $1,995 with no monthly fee and covers the same lost calls, just in writing rather than out loud.

Third-party costs, the phone line, texts, email sending and the AI's own usage, are billed at cost with the provider's invoice shown, or run on your own account. Nothing here means unlimited integrations, revisions or usage.

Questions

AI receptionist questions

Do I lose my phone number?

No, and this is the question everyone asks first. Your number stays with your carrier and stays on your phone. Calls reach the assistant through call forwarding, which is a short code you dial once and can switch off any time. Nothing is ported, nothing is signed over, and texts to your number never leave your phone in the first place.

What does an AI receptionist cost?

From $2,500 to set up and $299 a month to keep running, tuned and monitored. On top of that the phone line and the AI's own usage are billed at cost with the provider's invoice shown, or run on your own account so I never see it. A human answering service is typically a few hundred a month and a part-time office person considerably more, which is the comparison worth doing rather than comparing it to nothing.

Will my customers know it is AI?

If they ask, yes, it tells them. It is built to sound like a competent person taking a message rather than to pass as one, and in practice callers care far more about being heard at 8pm than about who heard them. What loses trust is being caught pretending.

What happens if it cannot answer something?

It says so and gets the caller to a human: through to you if you are available, or a promised callback with the details captured. It is built to escalate rather than guess, because a confident wrong answer about price or availability costs more than a transfer.

Can it handle emergency calls differently?

Yes, and for HVAC and plumbing that is usually the main reason to have it. You define what counts as an emergency, and those calls get a different script, a different urgency and a different routing rule, including ringing your phone straight through in the middle of the night if that is what you want.

How long does setup take?

Usually two to three weeks. Most of that is not technical, it is getting your services, area, hours, pricing rules and emergency definitions written down properly, then testing it against real calls. You hear it and approve it before a single customer does.

Rough numbers are fine. Put a phone number in here if you would rather I texted you.

No card, no call to book, no mailing list. I reply within 24 hours.

What you get back

  • Whether your call volume justifies the monthly
