Privacy policy

What this website collects, where it goes, and how to get rid of it. Written to be read rather than survived.

Who runs this site

This website is operated by SwansonX LLC, a Minnesota limited liability company based in Brainerd, Minnesota. If you want anything on this page actioned, email sean@swansonx.com or call (218) 818-1023.

The short version

There are no advertising trackers on this site, no third-party analytics product, and no cookies used to follow you around. The only personal information collected is what you deliberately type into the contact form, plus the technical details needed to stop that form being abused. Page views are counted, in a way that cannot identify you, described next. If you never fill in the form, nothing about you as a person is recorded.

Counting page views

Since 18 September 2026 this site counts its own page views, so I can see which pages get read. I wrote the counter myself and the numbers stay in my own database. No analytics company is involved and nothing is shared or sold.

For each page view it records:

  • the page, for example /pricing;
  • the website that sent you here, as a host name only, such as google.com, never the full address;
  • whether the screen was phone, tablet or desktop sized;
  • a two-letter country code;
  • a campaign tag, if the link you followed carried one.

It does not record your IP address or your browser's details, it sets no cookie, it writes nothing to your browser, and it gives you no identifier. One page view cannot be connected to the next, so there is no way to follow a visitor around the site or recognize one who comes back. That is why there is no cookie banner here: there is nothing to ask permission for. If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, the page view is not counted at all.

What the contact form collects

When you submit the form on the contact page, the following is stored:

  • Your name, email address and business name, if you give them
  • What you're looking for and the budget range you pick, if you pick one
  • The address of your current website, if you give one
  • The message you write
  • Your IP address and browser user-agent string, recorded with the message. These are used to rate-limit the form and to identify spam. They are not used to profile you or to target advertising.

Your email address is the only field that is genuinely required, along with a message long enough to be a real enquiry.

Where it goes

A submitted enquiry travels to exactly three companies, all acting as processors on our behalf:

  • Vercel hosts this website and runs the code that receives the form.
  • Supabase is the database the enquiry is stored in. Two blog cover images are also served from Supabase storage.
  • Resend delivers the notification email to us and the acknowledgement email back to you.

Enquiries are not sold, rented or shared with anyone else, and you will not be added to a mailing list. There is no mailing list.

The chat assistant

The "SwansonX Bot" panel in the corner of each page is an AI assistant that answers from the content of this site. It is optional, and nothing you type into it is required for anything else on the site to work.

  • What you type is sent to Anthropic, whose Claude model generates the reply. Under Anthropic's commercial terms your messages are not used to train its models.
  • The conversation is kept in your browser's session storage so it survives following a link, and is gone when you close the tab. It is not stored on our side.
  • If you ask the assistant to have Sean get in touch and give it your name and a way to reach you, those details and the conversation are stored and emailed exactly as a contact-form enquiry is, through the same three companies listed above.
  • Your IP address is used to rate-limit the assistant, in the same way as the contact form.

It can get things wrong. The pages on this site are the source of truth, and anything it tells you about price or scope is only binding once Sean has put it in writing.

Cookies and browser storage

This site sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser that identifies you. The chat assistant keeps its own transcript in session storage, described above. Thecalculator and the website planner keep what you typed on your own device only if you tick the box asking them to, and their clear buttons remove it.

How long it is kept

Enquiries are kept while there is a live conversation or an ongoing working relationship, and for up to 24 months afterwards so that past work can be referred back to. After that they are deleted. You can ask for yours to be deleted sooner, at any time, and it will be.

What you can ask for

Email sean@swansonx.com and you can have a copy of everything held about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted. There is no form to fill in and no charge. Because this is a one-person business, the answer comes from the person who actually holds the data, usually within a few days.

Client data, as opposed to site visitors

If you hire me, the data inside what I build for you is yours, not mine. It's exportable in full whenever you want, and it moves to your own accounts on request or when you stop paying a monthly plan. Every client's database is a separate project; nothing is shared between clients. That's described in more detail on the Partner Plan page.

Children

This site sells software and website work to businesses. It is not aimed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Security, honestly stated

The site is served over HTTPS, the form is rate-limited, and the database is not publicly readable. No website can promise perfect security, and this one does not. What it can promise is that it collects very little, which is the most effective protection available.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. There is no archive of previous versions; if you need one, ask and it can be pulled from the site's git history.
